The Gigaset A690 IP phone is an exceptionally versatile VoIP phone with the ability to make up to 3 parallel calls, either via Internet or traditional landline. It allows a caller to switch between 2 VoIP calls and 1 fixed line call at the press of a button.

You can experience the convenience of multi-line calling by registering up to 6 handsets. Just pick your favorite ones among the available portfolio of more than 6 compatible Gigaset handsets. With your Gigaset AS690 IP, you can also choose up to 6 SIP accounts from different providers.

This phone offers:

  • Support for analogue and internet based telephony

  • Brilliant audio / hands free mode quality (HDSP voice)

  • Illuminated black and white2'' graphic display

  • Phonebook can store up to 150 names and numbers

  • With free app: „Contacts Push“, for transferring smartphone contacts to the handset

  • Day/night mode: timed ringtone deactivation, with the exception of VIP contacts

Instructions for setting up and configuring your Gigaset A690 IP

In this activity you will:

Pre-requisites

1. Ensure that your phone is running the latest firmware (Manual)

Let's start by making sure your device's base and handset are running the latest firmware.

Note: You can also make firmware updates, as well as manage all your phone's settings, from the web configurator. See step 3 to learn how to log in.

  1. From your phone's handset, press the Menu button.

  2. Once in the menu, navigate to Settings and click OK.

  3. From the settings menu, navigate to System and click OK.

  4. From the system menu, navigate to Base Update and click OK.

  5. You'll be asked for a system PIN. If you have not set your own yet, the default PIN is 0000.

  6. Your unit will check to see if a new firmware version is available. It will give you a message on the firmware status. If new firmware is available, click OK to begin the update for your unit's base.

  7. Once the base firmware update has completed, you can update the handset firmware. Press the Menu button and navigate to Settings. Click OK.

  8. From the settings menu, navigate to Firmware Update and click OK.

  9. From here, navigate to Update and click OK. If a new firmware update is available, this begins the update. This update can take up to 30 minutes to complete.

2. (Optional) Set up automatic updates for your handset

In this step (optional, but recommended) you'll make sure that all firmware updates are automatic from now on. This will save lots of time and ensure that your phone is always running the latest recommended firmware.

Note: You can also make firmware updates, as well as manage all your phone's settings, from the web configurator. See step 3 to learn how to log in.

  1. Press the Menu button and navigate to Settings. Click OK.

  2. From the settings menu, navigate to Firmware Update and click OK.

  3. From this screen, navigate to Automatic Check and click OK. This will check a box, meaning automatic updates for the handset are now enabled.

  4. Additionally, if a new firmware update is available, you will be presented with the option to update it now. Click OK to start the update.

3. Get your device's IP address and log into the Gigaset phone's web portal

In this step, you'll obtain the IP address from your A690, which you'll need to log into the web portal in the next step.

  1. Briefly press the paging button on your device's base station. This will display the device's IP address. Take note of this as you'll need it next.

  2. On a computer connected to the same network as your phone, open a browser and type http:// followed by the IP address you obtained in step 1.

  3. The first screen that appears will require you to enter a system PIN. The default PIN for all new devices is 0000.

3. Configure your device from the Gigaset web portal

If you have not yet set up your phone with Telnyx (Established a VoIP connection or IP account), you can start by running the quickstart wizard from the web portal.

  1. From the web portal, click on the Home tab, select Quick Start Wizard, and click Next.

  2. Select your country and click Next.

  3. You'll be asked to select your provider from a list. If you do not see Telnyx on this list, click Other Provider. If you have to enter Telnyx's information manually, you'll need the IP account you provisioned from Telnyx as part of your pre-requisite activities for each VoIP number.

  4. From here, click on the Settings tab at the top of the page.

4. Configure your Gigaset Telephony Settings

Click on the Telephony link on the left-hand navigation to expand this menu. Click on Connections in the Telephony sub-menu and click Edit next to the line you want to configure.

  1. Enter the following information:

    1. Connection Name or Number: Create a connection name suitable for your connection.

    2. Connection Name or Number: Choose a name that makes sense for the connection you're setting up.

    3. Authentication Name: Your Telnyx SIP account username

    4. Authentication password: Your Telnyx SIP account password

    5. Username: Your Telnyx SIP account username

    6. Display name: Your Telnyx SIP account username

    7. Domain: sip.telnyx.com

    8. Proxy server address: sip.telnyx.com

    9. Proxy server port: If you are using UDP transport, use port 5060. If you are using TLS transport, use port 5061.

    10. Registration server: sip.telnyx.com

    11. Registration server port: If you are using UDP transport, use port 5060. If you are using TLS transport, use port 5061.

    12. Registration refresh time: 300

    13. STUN enabled: No

    14. STUN server address: (Leave Empty)

    15. Outbound proxy mode: Always

    16. Outbound server address: sip.telnyx.com

    17. Outbound proxy port: If you are using UDP or TCP transport, use port 5060. If you are using TLS transport, use port 5061.

    18. Select Network Protocol: By default, UDP is selected. If you enabled TLS and your account is configured to use SRTP encryption as part of your pre-requisite activities then you should choose TLS.

  2. Still in the Telephony section, click on Number Assignment and find the Handsets section. Look for the line you just created (It will have the same name as the Connection Name or Number field you configured previously.

    1. for outgoing calls: Radio button should be CHECKEDfor incoming calls: Checkbox should be CHECKED

That's it! You've finished configuring your Gigaset A690 IP profile, and can now start testing calls!
