If you are just getting started, we recommend using API V2 instead.

Please refer documentation here: Create and Manage API V2 Keys

Note: V1 tokens are only needed for legacy services like reporting and debugging. Please use V2 API key for all other api requests.

Creating an API Token in the Telnyx Mission Control portal is quick and straightforward:

  1. Log in to the Mission Control Portal at portal.telnyx.com.

  2. Navigate to API Keys Settings:

    • Click on your "Profile icon" in the upper right corner of the dashboard.

    • Select "API Keys" from the dropdown menu.

  3. Create a New API Token:

    • Click "API V1 Tokens" button located in the top right corner.

    • Click "Create API Token" > "Create API v1 Token".

    • Enter a name for your token and click "Create API Token".

  4. Finalize Creation:

    • Click the "Create API Token" button to generate your new API key.

Note: Once the API V1 Token is successfully created, save it to somewhere safe, you won't be able to see it again.

Important: Save Your API Key Securely

We’ll show the full API key value only once at creation. If you lose the key, you’ll need to generate a new one.

We recommend using a secure password manager or secrets vault once you’ve created it. We’re doing this to reduce the risk of accidental key leaks and help keep your account secure.

This approach aligns with our best-in-class security standards and helps prevent accidental key exposures.
