Prerequisites

Assuming you have your SBC already set up with your IP-PBX, with one or more clients configured and running calls between them, the following guide highlights specific configuration for use with your Telnyx trunk. We recommend reviewing the EdgeMarc resources here for detailed setup information.

We'll also show you how to assign this connection to a newly purchased DID which will allow you to receive inbound calls. Then we'll walk you through how to assign the connection to an outbound profile such that you can make outbound calls!

CONFIGURING YOUR TELNYX MISSION CONTROL PORTAL

Step by Step Guide

For step by step instructions on each of the requirements on the Telnyx Mission Control Portal, please follow this guide. Once you've configured your Telnyx account, you can now proceed to setup EdgeMarc SBC following the guide below.

CONFIGURING YOUR EDGEMARC SBC

Step by Step Guide

You are now all set on the Mission Control Portal side and are ready to configure your Telnyx trunk within your EdgeMarc SBC system.

Define your SIP Settings:

In order to configure the SIP server information, navigate to VoIP -> SIP.
Enter the following information below:

SIP Server Address: sip.telnyx.com
SIP Server Port: 5060
SIP Server Transport: UDP
Use Custom Domain: Check the box
SIP Server Domain: sip.telnyx.com
Limit Inbound to listed Proxies: Check the box
Limit Outbound to listed Proxies: Check the box

Define your SIP Trunk Registration:
In order to configure the SIP trunk registration, navigate to VoIP ALG -> B2BUA.

You can then configure trunk registrations with the WAN side of the soft switch as-well as the registration mode for the PBX on the LAN side. This will allow for sending SIP messages from the WAN side inbound and for sending SIP messages to the WAN side outbound.

Navigate to the Trunking Devices section to configure the PBX's SIP registration mode.

  • To create a new entry for a trunking device, click the "New Row" button.
  • Input your PBX's name in the "Name" field.
  • Select the correlating PBX from the drop-down list of the "Model" field.
  • Select the IP radio button as the registration mode.
  • Enter the PBX's IP into the IP field.
  • Select the transport as UDP.
  • Input 5060 for the port number.

Once the information has been filled in, click update to create the Trunking Device for PBX. Then click submit at the bottom of the page so the configuration gets pushed to the EdgeMarc.

Define your EdgeMarc inbound rules:
This will allow for sending SIP messages from the EdgeMarc to the PBX.

  • To create a new inbound rule entry, click the "New Row" button.
  • Type inbound into the name field of the inbound rule.
  • Send To: Select the Trunking Device radio button.
  • Select your PBX from the dropdown menu.

Once the information has been filled in, click update to create the default inbound rule to the PBX. Then click submit at the bottom of the page so the configuration gets pushed to the EdgeMarc.

Define your EdgeMarc inbound matching rules:

  • To create a new inbound rule entry, click the "New Row" button.
  • Direction: Select inbound from the dropdown menu.
  • Mode: Select BothModes from the dropdown menu.
  • Select the "default" radio button.
  • Action: Select inbound from the dropdown menu.

Define your EdgeMarc outbound matching rules:

  • To create a new outbound rule entry, click the "New Row" button.
  • Direction: Select outbound from the dropdown menu.
  • Mode: Select BothModes from the dropdown menu.
  • Select the "pattern" radio button.
  • Select "calling" from the dropdown menu.
  • Depending on your preference, you can allow all callers by entering "."
  • Alternatively, you can pattern match on partial caller numbers such as 1312270X
  • Source: Select "any" from the dropdown menu.
  • Action: Select outbound from the dropdown menu.

Once the information has been filled in, click update to create the pattern matching rules you've defined. Then click submit at the bottom of the page so the configuration gets pushed to the EdgeMarc.
