There are three stages to setup a successful VXC between the Telnyx Backbone Network and Microsoft Azure
Stage1 – Prepare Microsoft account for Azure Express Route.
Step1: Go to https://portal.azure.com/#home
Step 2: Search for “Express route” and click on “Express Route Circuits”
Step 3: Click on Add -> Provider must be Equinix, do *NOT* select “Allow Classic Operations”.
Remaining fields at your discretion.
You should see your Azure Express Route Provisioned as below in the Azure Portal once the deployment completes.
Stage 2 : Setting up the VXC in Telnyx’s Customer Portal
Step1: Go to http://portal.telnyx.com
Step2: Click on “Networking” from the left-hand menu
Step3: Click on the “Create New Network” button on the top right
Step 4: Name the Network and click on the “Create Network” button
Step 5: Once the Network is Created, Next step is to add the site. Click on the “Add a Site” button
Step 6: Choose the Telnyx Backbone Network you want to peer with
Step 7: Add the VXC, by clicking on Create VXC
Step 8: Azure Express Route Section.
NB: For this section, Stage 1 needs to have been completed
Step 9: Key in Azure Service Key and Microsoft Azure ASN. Typically it is 12076
Step 10: Sample Service Key and ASN Displayed Below
Step 11: Final step is creating VXC and submitting to Telnyx Network team.
Step 12: At this Point, Connection Acceptance will be TELNYX Network Team.
NB: Do NOT Enable Routing status via the slider, this step has to be coordinated in sync with Telnyx Network Team, as enabling this without Backend configuration may blackhole your voice traffic.
Phase 3 : Turning up Routing and NAT configuration
Step 1: Arrange a Maintenance activity and co-ordinate with TELNYX Network engineering to turn on the Routing. Please contact our Support Team 24x7 to arrange this. https://telnyx.com/contact-us
Note: This activity has to be co-ordinate with the Network team to complete Back-end configuration during the Maintenance window.
Once you enable the Circuit using the Routing Status slider, you should see the below routing table in Express Route
Once enabled with Routing, we should see Telnyx Public Ranges via Express Route Circuit so that they can be preferred over Internet Routing Table.
