Common Questions about IoT SIM and eSIM

Do the SIM cards support voice?

At the moment, Telnyx SIMs are data only.

Are the SIM cards two-way SMS capable?

Yes through AT commands.

Do the SIMs work internationally?

How long does shipping usually take?

For orders under 50 SIM cards, we would send out via USPS which would normally take a few days to reach a destination within the 48 states, slightly longer for Alaska and Hawaii.

For large orders, typically over 50 SIM cards, please contact our sales team to discuss your use case and verify if we can expedite shipping.

International orders outside the United States may take longer than 7 business working days.

Can the SIM cards be white labelled?

Not at the moment. This could potentially be reviewed on a case by case basis.

How do I get a SIM card?

Purchase a SIM card or beta test one for free by ordering at portal.telnyx.com

What are the associated costs?

Subsequent SIM cards are available for purchase from $1 per SIM (triple-cut plastic SIMs and embedded MFF2 SIM chips) and $0.70 per over-the-air eSIM.

There is a Monthly Recurring Charge (MRC) for active and standby SIMs, however, we do not charge MRC for disabled SIMs. There are no additional fees for changing the SIM state.

Auto-Provisioning: Are the SIM cards auto-provisioned upon activation?

Once a SIM is registered to a customer account in either the standby or active state it will be provisioned and ready for use.

The portal and API allow for data limits to be set at SIM and SIM Group levels to control usage. Usage of SIMs is reported in near real-time.

Is there analytics tracking to look at real-time data usage?

Yes, you can read more on reporting here.
