Pre-requisites

  • Ensure that your Telnyx Mission Control Portal is configured properly

  • Install Grandstream Wave on your Android and/or Apple device(s)

1. Get a QR code from Telnyx

In this step, you'll obtain a QR code from Telnyx that you'll need in order to configure Grandstream Wave. You will only need to do this once per device, so if you've done this already, you can move on to step 2.

  1. Log into your Telnyx Command Portal. Make sure it's not the device you're using to configure your Grandstream Wave softphone.

  2. Select the PBX tab.

  3. Click on the SIP devices and open the SIP device you want to associate with your Grandstream Wave softphone. You should see a QR code on this detail screen. It will look something like this:

  4. Open the Grandstream Wave app and tap on the QR code scanner found at the top-left. This will open your device's camera. You'll notice what looks like a frame over the camera.

  5. Point your device at the QR code in your Telnyx Portal and try to get it within the frame. You won't need to do anything, the QR code and softphone will take care of the rest. You can now log into the Wave softphone with your Telnyx credentials:

    1. Server: sip.telnyx.com

    2. Account: Your Telnyx SIP username

    3. Password: Your Telnyx SIP password

2. Set Telnyx as your SIP provider in Grandstream Wave

In this step, you will configure your Grandstream Wave app to make and receive calls using Telnyx as your VoIP provider. Note that whether you are using Android or Apple devices, the app will look and behave the same way.

  1. Open the Grandstream Wave app on your device.

  2. In the bottom navigation, tap Settings (The gear icon) and then tap into Account Settings.

  3. At the top of the screen, tap the + button to add a new account and tap on SIP Account.

  4. and add the following values:

    1. Account Name Choose a name you like that will help you identify the account.

    2. SIP Server: sip.telnyx.com

    3. SIP User ID: Your Telnyx SIP account ID

    4. SIP Authentication ID: Your Telnyx SIP account password

    5. Password: (Your subaccount Password)

    6. Voicemail ID: *97

    7. Display Name: Your chosen outgoing caller ID name. See the caller ID naming convention rules below.

    Caller ID naming conventions:

    1. Call ID name should be in CAPITAL LETTERS. This is easier to read on some devices.

    2. No special characters will be displayed. Don't use them.

    3. Max 15 characters

    4. Spaces are allowed

    5. If you would like to set an Outbound Caller ID Name with your number when you call a Canadian number, keep in mind that the major Canadian providers DO NOT use the CNAM/LIBD database. This means you will need to enter your Outbound caller ID Name directly in the Display Name field.

  5. When you're satisfied with your setup, just tap the blue checkmark in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. You'll see a green dot next to your setup once the softphone is ready to make calls. Note that it may take a few seconds for the green light to show up.

That's it, you've now configured Grandstream Wave to work with Telnyx.
